Urgent Help Needed on 1813 EK2

    Hello

Can anyone say if this is a good, original 1813 EK2 ?

    The description of it is:

Iron Cross 2nd class 1813. The core which is cast Iron is undamaged but most of the black paint finish has gone giving a Iron grey finish. The cross is 42 mm wide approx and the loop is unmarked. The soldering is not so good and the frame is split in a couple of places on the internal arm of the cross.

Any help, advice or comments greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards
    David

    David,
IMHO it is crap. The 1813 was not so soft, even if oxidized a bit. People think that if you make an ugly EK it will mean it is a real 1813. I have to tell you that all the real 1813s I have handles, admitedly only a handful, have been rather clear strikes.

Here are two of mine, an EK2 and a prinzen:

      Hello Marc

Many thanks for the quick response. I've been looking at this on the dealers site for some time, but it didn't seem to match up to any I've seen in books or on the forums. I won't be bothering with this one.

Those are two very, very sweet EKs you have there.

      Regards
      David

Have to agree. Plus most of the 1813 crosses you see have a hairline crack on at least one arm near the center. Not always but many times. Steve
