The only thing that comes to mind would be soemthing connected to Saxony. They used the horizontal stripes in almost all of their crests. But it does not fit any of the duchies or city states that I can determine. Another possibility might be Bremen. Steve

      Hi,

      In heraldry,

Set of wings denotes, swiftness and protection
helmet facing forward. usually denotes Royalty? but no crown?

left of shield lines are for, Land.
right Greyhound denotes Courage, vigilance, and loyalty.

Try to look up the royal families of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach.
      Thuringia State.

      Hope this helps.

      George

        Crest

Yes thanks, the monogram on the hilt comes back to Grand Duchy Saxe Weimar Eisenbach,,,,was hoping this crest might lead to specific owner. its an awesome sword with damascus blade.
