    BMO for Erich and Rick

Thanks to Eric Stahlhut, Rick L. and the rest of you for your help in identifying orders and ribbons and persons associated with a great Prussian general.

You guys use the MVO as the vernacular though, sorry.

Rick, I hope it's not too large for your 8" monitor.

Eric thought you'd like this one. A big brother to this one should be arriving from mutti any day now! Can you guess what it might be, still Bavarian!

And I know this isn't a Juncker, BUT, it was purchased or awarded BEFORE 1918 and YES some of these guys used the HALF MOON!

      For you history buffs, it was probably awarded while Gunther v.Etzel served;

Orders of Battle: Eastern Front, November 1916
Immediately following Roumania's defeat by the Quadruple Alliance
Böhm-Ermolli Army Group, Generaloberst von Böhm-Ermolli
(part of the Southern Front under Prinz Leopold von Bayern)

II. K.u.K. Armee, Generaloberst von Böhm-Ermolli
Eben Group, Gen. d. Inf. von Eben
IX. K.u.K. Korps, Feldmlt. von Kletter
      XIX. inf. div., Feldmlt. Böltz
XXXII. inf. div., Genmj. von Willerding
IV. K.u.K. Korps, Feldmlt. von Hordt
XXXIII. K.u.K. inf. div., Genmj. Iwanski
      V. K.u.K. Korps, Feldmlt. von Goglia
      XXXI. inf. div., Genmj. Lieb
      XXVII. inf. div., Genmj. Kosak
      IV. kav. div., Genmj. Berndt
      XVIII. K.u.K. Korps, Feldmlt. Czibulka
II. Deutsch kav. div., Genmj. von Etzel
      I. Landsturm inf. div., Genmj. von Soretic
CVI. Landsturm inf. div., Genmj. Kratky
XXV. inf. div., Genmj. von Boog

After the war he remained friends with Prinz Leopold. His daughter tells me she remembers playing with his daughters around 1930.

hey! I can see 95% of that on one screen!

Hey! What's that Prussian moon doing on a Bavarian-made piece!!!!???

Very nice edge scan: what is the actual silver content, can't tell from the deep punch?

No von Etzels on any grade MVO rolls. An in law? Other side of the family?

In any case, Weiss & Company's level of workmanship was sadly "under par" as compared with the other MVO makers (like my hero, Leser ) so, in order to avoid shaming and embarassing the rest of your collection, you must send this piece to me. Here it can be cared for without harsh judgements in the Medals version of the "Island of Misfit Toys."

Sorry Rick. It was so shameful I gave it to my little boy to play Army with out in the gravel pits. That boy can sure go through the enamel misfits quickly. But, seriously, it looks great a bit antiqued now! If I can figure out where the dog buried it in the backyard I'll send it your way Rick! But like I said, the family never owned a single award from previous generations.

HOWEVER, when Mutti finds the DOCUMENTS from her grandfather, a General von Klingspur, that should be interesting! That was her mother's mother's dad. Some very interesting 1870's stuff. From the paintings it appears he won the EKII. Let's hope THAT document is one of them...

According to Poincons' d'Argent (the silver mark bible):
the moon and crown was a federal/imperial mark: to whit:
