Here is a nice officer's visor cap. Can anyone tell me about it?

I can't find an exact match for the piping on this cap. My first impression was either Dragoons or Hussars but the nearest match I found was Hussar Reigiment 16 which although had a yellow band and white crown piping also had a white border on the upper and lower edges of the yellow band.

Charles, its not any Regt. There is no military color combination like this in the Imperial German Reich.

Hello Charles, There is a rash of caps being sold that are not military but have had military cockades attached to give the buyer that impression. There has been at least 3 threads, I think, with members asking about caps like yours only with different color schemes. There is one with a black band and white band piping with red piping on the cap crown. I have been told that this was a streetcar conductor cap from the 20s or 30s and the cockades were added to defraud IMO. I have no way of telling what the original use of your cap was but as Tony noted, it is not a military cap of the Imperial German period. Sorry. I hope you can get your money back. There are books which show the actual color combinations of all Imperial German military caps. I strongly advise all members to seek references or ask those members who have the references for advice. I stand ready to assist.

There was a plethora of caps used in Germany in the 19th and early 20th centuries for a wide range of organizations, From post office, student organizations, vet organizations, miners, streetcar conductors, you name it! Some of these are now being used as military caps (with addition of cockades) for an Imperial headgear market that has gotten hot.
