    Mess kit

    Hi,
is this mess kit an imperial Germany stuff? I have only this one foto and I can't say if it has any markings. Soon I'will get it so then it will be possible to give more detalis about it.

Hello, it looks to be German, this pattern was used in WWI and later as well. The markings should tell you when this was made.

      I'm convinced it's German m1910 mess kit.

        fanatyk6,

This is absolutely not a M1910 messkit. The handle on an M10 had a "T" shape and was made from aluminum like the rest of the messkit. This example you show has a steel handle of a later pattern.

Most likely, this is a postwar pattern. I say this because this style of handle with the bent piece that keeps the messkit strap from slipping was not introduced until 1917. By 1917 messkits had long since been made from steel, as aluminum messkits were withdrawn in 1915. Take a look for dates, but I doubt you will find any. These later pieces were rarely marked.

          Chip M,

Thanks for correcting my anwser. If it's not a M1910 mess kit so what it is? You've said "postwar" - You mean post WW I or WW II?
