A document pair from Saxony
Going through todays mail and received a nice pair of documents to the same fellow.
1915, as a Vizefeldwebel, Hugo Alfred Herold receives the Silver Medal of the St. Henry Order. Excellent signature of King Friedrich Auguste!
1917,as Offizier-Stellv. he received a Silver FAM on war ribbon. Almost 2 years AFTER his St. Henry!
This has been one of the things that has always attracted me to this Order. Awarded strictly for insane bravery...... No matter what rank, or what other awards one had, Saxony honored its' heroes.
