    Am i wrong here

I recently bought a set of documents most of which came with their respective awards , except for 1 .
In the description the seller says its for a Prussian War Veterans Honor Cross 2nd Class in Silver .
Does this award exist or was he wrong .

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Mark,

He may be referring to the Preussischer Landeskriegerverband decoration known as the Kriegsvereins-Ehrenkreuz 2. Klasse. The first class was in gold and was pin backed while the 2nd class was silver with a black and white striped ribbon. They are not hard to find. These pre-date the Hindenburg Cross. Many of the states had awards very similar with the ribbons being in the traditional colors of the various German states. Does this sound like the certificate? If so, there should be the letters 'P' 'L' 'K' 'V' in between the arms of the cross and the certificate may likely have a Prussian National War Monument on it as it is also on the medal. I don't currently have one is my collection right now but below is a recent eBay offering. Steve

Regular , you are spot on . Top class advice. The picture on the doc does not represent the award you showed although the wording is perfect .
I have put up a pic of the doc so you can see what i mean...

Thanks for your help , Stomper...

            Just a minor nit:

The monument on the medal, the Kyffhäuserdenkmal, is the German national war veterans memorial, not Prussian. Its construction was funded by donations raised through veterans organizations throughout Germany. The Kyffhäuserbund was the umbrella for all German veterans groups (and still exists). The memorial wasn't even in Prussia, but in the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt.

If you are ever in that part of Germany, it is an area well worth a visit.

                Again , thanks .
It is my ambition to get to Germany one day soon . I am petrified of flying and at 37 years old , got on a plane for the 1st time this year . Hopefully that is the start of things to come.
                So you never know eh...

Right you are Dave. My head was full of 'Prussian' because of the Prussian medal. But I am glad you caught it nevertheless.
