Which EK1 case in cardboard box?

I have 2 cased KO EK1 and would like to know if it is possible to determine which is likely to have been sent to the receipient by the authorities in the usual cardboard box,. Once box is black, squarish with an EK outline on the cover. The other box is more rounded, is burgundy in clour and slightly dome-shaped. This latter one makes me think it is a private purchase therefore not the type that would have been sent with the cardboard box, but....So 1st, the black box.

Mine came in the latter style box you described Terry, with outer carton.

The other box does have a red/burgundy colouring although it may not be obvious on the photo.

Thanks Marcus. Somehow I assume that the red box is a private purchase but I guess the cardbox box could have been sent by the shop ...or am I talking nonsense and the cardboard box would have been used only by the military authorities?
I see on page 200 of "The Iron Time" that the case shown with a cardboard box is similar to my top one (the black, square one).

In this instance certainly I'd imagine between the two for arguments sake, it's more likely the top box came in the outer carton.

I'm not ovrly conversant with Imp. EK; but I have seen a few cartoned EK and the first (top) case would prescribe indeed to I think examples also encountered in these outer cardboard cartons.

Of course there will be owners of more Imp EK's and more informed than I.

Thanks, that looks very similar to my black one. Anymore examples or comments about the type of case that is best suited to my cardboard box?
