I know only a little:

The full name was K******246;niglich S******228;chsisches Sch******252;tzen- (F******252;silier-) Regiment Prinz Georg Nr. 108. It was officially founded on October 1, 1809, but traced its origin to Scharfsch******252;tzentrupps in the Kurf******252;rstlich S******228;chsischen Infanterie Regiment (Electoral Princely Saxon Infantry Regiment). The unit went through various name changes and reorganizations up to 1867, when the agreements with Prussia among the various German states gave all but the Bavarians standard numbers, in this case Nr. 108. Prinz Georg von Sachsen became Regiments-Chef in 1871, and the regiment was renamed in his honor.

It was part of the 2. (kgl. s******228;chs.) Infanterie-Brigade Nr. 46 of the 1. (kgl. s******228;chs.) Infanterie-Division Nr. 23, based in Dresden. It was in the Albertstadt garrison district, along with most of the division, and was in the Sch******252;tzenkaserne between Alaun-Platz and the Garnisonkirche.

It stayed with the 23rd Saxon ID throughout WW1, fighting in the First Battle of the Marne in 1914, in the Somme in 1916 and 1918, and in the Second Battle of the Marne in 1918, among other battles. It spent the entire war on the Western Front and was generally well-regarded.

Also, this is just speculation, but if he was drafted into Schütz.R. 108 in 1903 (presuming that the 1903 date on the Wehrpass refers to the induction date), he would have done his 2 years, passed into the reseves in 1905, and the Landwehr in 1910 or so. So when the war started, he would have been in the Landwehr 1st levy and may or may not have been called up immediately. If not, by 1915 or so he would have passed into the Landwehr 2nd levy, I think.

Meaning basically there are any number of places he could have ended up. There wasn't a Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 108; Saxon Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiments were Landwehr-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 100 and Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiments Nr. 101-107 and Nr. 133, with LIR 388 raised during the war.

The Brigade Replacement Battalion for the brigade to which Schütz.R. 108 belonged was Brigade-Ersatz-Bataillon Nr. 46. It was called up on mobilization in August 1914 as part of the 45. gemischte Ersatz-Brigade, 19. (kgl. sächs.) Ersatz-Division. In 1915, the battalions were consolidated into regiments, and Brigade-Ersatz-Bataillon Nr. 46 formed part of Kgl. Sächs. Ersatz-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 23.

And if he returned home to Chemnitz, he might have ended up in Brigade-Ersatz-Bataillon Nr. 88, based there along with the 40. (4. kgl. sächs.)Infanterie-Division and its 88. (7. kgl. sächs.) Infanterie-Brigade. Brigade-Ersatz-Bataillon Nr. 88 also was part of the 19. (kgl. sächs.) Ersatz-Division, but with the 47. gemischte Ersatz-Brigade. In 1915, I believe it became an element of Kgl. Sächs. Ersatz-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 40.

Another Saxon Landwehr unit was Kgl. Sächs. Landwehr-Ersatz-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 6, which later became Kgl. Sächs. Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 351.

Also, Landwehr levies often ended up in regular or reserve regiments as the war progressed, so he could have ended up back in Schütz.R. 108 or any number of other units.

I suppose the answers await in the Wehrpass.
