    WW1 Flieger

Paid through my nose for this one today, but my first WW1 Pilot EK doc (have 2 to Luftschiffer though)
I guess the name is not possible to track...anyone know about the unit?

That's a strange format-- anything on the back?

Because it has the unit stamp-- but not the signature of whoever issued the document!

    (A) units were two seater artillery observation squadrons: "unglamorous" but far more important than the fighter celebrities.

My air sources are too split up to be much use-- but if the 263's CO had just signed... could follow HIM, and the unit through him.

Damn, you are right.... had not even noticed the lack of signature

I suppose because it was awarded on behalf of the Garde Reservekorps that the CO did not feel it was his place to sign (the units being so different).

I had wished for a fighter ace

but i guess it will do for now

Average life expectancy of something like a month in combat flying...

        here's a late 1918 group of NCOs from (A) 226

          Very Nice!

Hey Chris, very nice! I have managed to find only one set of Imperial pilot documents, ever. It was complete, but never seen any since!

A good website that has a lot of flight crew info is www.idflieg.de. Take a look there for some possible information on this pilot.

            regards,
            Mike
