              Angus:

              1) Bavarian WW1 Ludwig Cross. We just started a thread on that you can compare yours too-- if it is zink, or whatever metal

              2) Hesse-Darmstadt general campaign Medal awarded 1840-1866, and retroactively for surviving veterans of wars as far back as 1780. The stripes should be white, I suspect the scans are just "off" from others below.

              3) Brunswick Ernst August Cross WW1. The only class until 1918, when it became 2nd Class. You will find lots on this by doing a search on "Brunswick Ernst August." Stripes should be yellow for the combatant ribbon here. That's the reverse side.

              4) 1864 Prussian War With Denmark medal. Their Austrian allies issued one identical, but with the left and right ciphers reversed for home precedence. the white stripe should be over the W.

              5) Oldenburg House Order of Peter Frederick Louis, Merit Cross but cannot tell if silver or not from fuzzy scan. All of these are nice, but this one is definitely the Pick Of The Litter, so need much better description/scans. take a magnet to it, please. There was an Iron class which should have been black finished.

              6) Mecklenburg-Schwerin Friedrich Franz Cross 2 WW1. Again, search "Mecklenburg" and you'll turn up lots. Rick

                Hi Rick,

Great information as always! Many thanks.

Have just tried the magnet on the merit cross. Not magnetic in the slightest. It has an intertwinned F and L cypher on the rear centre surrounded by the words: Ein Gott, Ein Recht, Eine Wahrheit. Something like one god, one right and one ......

The ribbons on all the others are exactly as you say........ slightly off with my photography!!!

Off to do the searches now!

                Many thanks,

                Angus

Is it silver then? A little treasure, that one! Hard to find, and the sort of "boring" looking Imperial "find" we all hope for unappreciated (and dramatically underpriced, hehehe) in some swastika dealer's "Who Cares About THIS Junk?" case.
