    Carl Anton Medal

    Hello all,
Noticed on Detlev's sale this morning a Hohenzollern Carl Anton Commemoritive medal (1911). My question is why is it on a combattant ribbon? What was the criteria for this award anyway?
    Thanks,
    Sam

Sam--that's just the ribbon used on this piece. It was created on the 100th birthday anniversary of then then reigning Prince's grandfather's birthday. There were 90 silver gilt medals for Royal guests, 300 in silver for current officers of Fusileer Regiment 40, retired regimental officers, court and civil service officials, and clergymen. 610 bronze medals were awarded to FR 40's top NCOs, lower level Beamten, teachers, pensioners, former servants and soldiers who had served under the old Prince, and for the banners of Veterans Associations named after the old Prince.
