    Good-bye, 1813 EK 2 Club

It is with deep regret that I inform one and all that I recently learned that the alleged 1813 EK 2 which entitled me to membership in the exclusive 1813 EK 2 Club is, in fact, a reproduction. Therefore, I am resigning as a member of said club, effective immediately. (My chagrin over this unfortunate situation is tempered by the fact that the dealer who sold me the the EK is going to give me a complete and prompt refund for the piece, even though it was purchased several years ago! )
Here below is my cross. Do not buy one of these!

Look at it this way George, at least you were in the club. Most of us can only stand outside with our noses pressed against the glass trying to peer in through the smoke from the cuban cigars.

I here they have a sofa in the men's room. It that true?

It sucks to find out that something you believed to be good for all
        this time is actually bad.
But a big to the dealer who still stands behind it.

          George,
It is truly a shame the way the fakers are ruining things for collectors. Until I saw the one on the other forum, I would have swore yours was an excellent condition original. When the fakes get to this level, how many more years do we have before all of our collections are worthless. When the original is indistinquishable from the fake, who will be willing to risk it. To the fakers: may your money be stolen by swindlers (such as yourselves) and may you die pennyless, friendless and burn in hell. To the dealer who took it back years later, One hell of a pat on the back for showing such character. I think he should be named (with his permission of course) so that he may be openly appauded by us all. I know I would buy from him, If I knew who he was.

            Tough break George

I have a feeling it wont be long before your membership is renewed. I'm sure in lieu of a refund, the dealer would do his utmost to find you a 'real one' and if not, I'm sure the other members will be happy to let you know if a good one pops up soon so that you can spend your refund on it.

            (Weitze's item # 80808 - a 2nd batch example - for instance.)

            I know I will...

              Hi George.
With reproduction is it a pre 1945 reproduction or simply a post 1945 fake ?

I'm under the vague impression that it is a post-1945 fake, but I don't have any real reason for that assumption. I'll ask the dealer for as much info on it as he can give me.

                  Hello!

I belive it was my faked 1813 EK2 that started this
But it's better to know it...

                  Cheers, Stefan

Sorry to hear that George! I will send you a cuban cigar so you won't feel too far away from the club if you like

I understand from Prevetera's book these were all made by individual jewelers until as late as the 1830's. IMO a serious minefield here. Hope you get a good one someday. Charlie

PayPal only and a Buy It Now option. Sure signs of a fake.
