I have an Ehrenpokal given to a Generalleutnant Petzel in Metz in 1909. Does anyone know anymore about this man? Cheers, Torsten.

The 1908 ranklist shows your man as the commander of the 33rd division, in Metz. He is not listed in the 1910 ranklist and unfortunately, I do not have a 1909 edition. I do hope that this information is of some help.
Best wishes,
Wild Card

I have finally had time to take photos of the Ehrenpokal that prompted to ask about this man...it is made of gilded tin and is quite decorative...the inscription says that it was given as an Ehrenpreis (honour prize) BY (and not to) Generalleutnant Petzel in commemoration of a homing pigeon competition run by the homing pigeon association of Metz in 1909...I suspect that he was a patron of the competition? It is quite large and measures 12" tall. Cheers, Torsten.Attached FilesLast edited by torstenbel; 08-17-2006, 03:11 PM.
