    Dear lord,
It looks like a suspect kreigs helfdeinst cross, given in 1916-1919 to about 1.2 million persons who aided in the war effort in some way.
    Did you polish it ?
    Hmmm.

I would imagine someone did something dumb to it at some point, like scrubbing it, there is no way it would look like that just from wear. I mean, look at the edges...
      The horror...

I kinda like the look of it in that polished way. Looks better than that stinky zink disease that's growing on mine. Hmmnn, now where's my brass toothbrush.... (jk)

        Alexey,
It's a very common award, issued by the Imperial German Government during WW1 and one of the few medals that are not mentioned, and presumably not collected, much. I'd put the price at 20 Euros, maybe less considering it's been altered (polished), in poor condition, and without it's ribbon. But it's real piece of history that's nearly one hundred years old and part of a era that's *long* gone. Hold on to it and remember that somebody made a special effort long ago to earn that medal.
        Thanks,
        Eric Gaumann

You can always ask me under the Soviet awards.

EricFG : "Hold on to it and remember that somebody made a special effort long ago to earn that medal" - Yes, certainly I understand it.
