    What class Bavarian MVO?

    Hi Guys,

I've been looking through all the old threads and if the answer is in there pls accept my apologies as I wasn't able to find it but what class of MVO is this? It is made of zinc.

What is the approximate value of this combination? (I ask in advance of posting what I paid in the hope it was a bargain. and not an expensive folly!

Remembering what Rick "the guru" (is there an avatar for that?) has said previously this small spange shows the soldier putting his region's awards before that of the prussian EK2 as was common.

See I am starting to penetrate this minefield that is imerial German awards! (I was rifgt wasn't I?)

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Angus

    Dear Angus,

That's a 3. Klasse mit Schwertern des Bayrisches Militär-Verdienstkreuzes des MVO (Militär-Verdienstorden), 3. Form (1916-17), Orden & Ehrenzeichen Katalog Nr. 434. This particular model (late WWI model) was the 4th and and last type, made out of zinc (Kriegsmetall), a bit more scarce than the normal 3. Kl. mit Schwertern 3. Form (1913-21) and therefore a bit more expensive (Eur 40.-/50.-).

    I hope that helped you.

    Ciao,

    Claudio

...and the bar is mounted in PERFECT Bavarian OoP, first the Bavarian bravery awards, than the "foreign" Prussian EK.
Only the other German KINGDOMS (Bavaria, Saxony and Württemberg) could put their own war decorations in front of the Prussian EK.

The Imperial stuff is no minefield! It is highly interesting and doesnt smell so much like zinc!

        Best regards

        Daniel
