    Gorgeous Godet 1914 EK 1

This beauty is the gem of my collection of 1914 EKs, a Godet-manufactured first class with side hooks. The crispness of the detail on the obverse is amazing and there is virtually no evidence of its age other than the patina on the rims. No wear at all. On the reverse, the side pin on the left (as you face the cross from the back) is soldered directly to the back, whereas the other pin is attached with a plate. Maker's mark on the pin.

Nice one!!! Did you happen to get this in the past year from a SC dealer? I saw one like it at a militaria show in Marietta GA a year ago and am still kiciking myself for passing on it.

George: Stunning piece you have there, a real gem thanks for sharing, definitely Godet were the A+ makers of Iron Crosses

        Doug,
No, I got this about three years ago from a militaria shop in Covington, Kentucky. One of my better buys at $325, with case! (It makes up for some of my screw-ups!)

You did well! The one I saw had a price tag of $500 on it, without a case. If your case is marked on the silk for Godet and/or has the slots for the side hooks to rest in, your case is worth more than most EK1's alone.

            Doug,
I don't think the case is a Godet, rather the standard WW1 EK 1 case with a blue velvet bottom inside, white silk inside lid, and a 95% intact image of the EK on the outer lid. Still, a nice case!

              Hey George,
Nice Godet indeed. Can you post a pic of the case as well?

Nice indeed. I think A. Huesken had a godet with the stabilizers on his last list. It was sold when I enquired about it, I think his price was around 750DM, sans case. Never saw it to see how nice it was though.

                  Hey Billy G.,
I didn't forget about you, it just took me a while to get these pictures together. Here is the case the Godet cross came in.

It's not a Godet case, that I know of. In fact, I think it's a pretty standard issue case for 1914 EK 1s.
