    A long term sufferer...

.. OK, not strictly in place here, but interesting because of the Turkish medal.
This is the group to James Mallet, A gunner in the Royal horse Artillery (the light arty that was there to support the cavalry)

One of the very few soldiers to have survived the whole Crimean war (hundreds of soldiers died a day of diseas) and then through the indian mutiny he finished his 21 years still as a private.

From left to right are the crimean medal, Indian mutiny, long service and good conduct, and the Turkish medal for the Crimea. Normally it had a hole drilled through and had a ring through, mallet had a bar fitted to his, and the hole filled.

Wonderful group Chris - I covert the Crimea medal with those bars (is there an 'envy' smilie )

As usual I looked at the picture before I read the words and as I scrolled down I thought you had a VC in there !!
Interesting that the long service award has such a similar ribbon...
