The first cross looks like a bavarian military merit cross. It was some kind of standart practice for Saxon and Bavaria to wear at first THEIR own decorations.
Its not in english- its just old german spelling- photograph and reproduction are both words originating from latin and they were written like that once- that was some 3 "rechtschreibreform" ago.
That's right! Richtig!
However, in this sense i believe it's used in the English sense as the photo glows like a lava lamp under blacklight. I use it to illustrate a growing phenomenon-the faking of CDVs.
Beware!@
And, I thank Jeff for ruining my whole day with that Hideous Revelation on Sunday (see Lowell thread in Local Chapters, if you are Association members and can "see" the "invisible" stuff, for the sort of day it was already)... the OTHER ones were NOT so marked.
Those CdVs also bore the typical full printed backings with "1st Prize in 1893" sort of labels most bear: scuffed, mixed in with originals in dim halls or shops, they would EASILY pass as real for the couple of dollars they cost. So now we have to blacklight THESE as well!!!
In going through Stogie-Rick's albums, I found two Third Reich fakes, same thing, bright electric blue under blacklight... one of which had "only for service use" stamp in German on back to add to the deception.
I have been seeing faked Soviet photos for over a year...
