    WWI EK2 mystery ribbon

Can anybody help me with the ribbon on this 1914 EK2? The fellow at the shop where I got it said it was the non-combatant version of ribbon, but clearly it is not. It is more
like the ribbon on a Baltic Cross, except that on the BC the ribbon is blue and white, not black and white. The EK itself is typical for the period except that the suspension ring is a brass-colored metal instead of silver-colored.
If this ribbon does not belong with this medal, does anyone know what medal it does belong with?
    Thanks,
    George

I don't know what the ribbon goes to either, but that shape and that style of mounting back plate was commonly used on a lot of the unofficial patriotic/regimental sort of badges, 1880s-1930s.

I don't think there is a book on those--it would be a massive undertaking trying to sort out every town's Krieger-Verein and so on.
