    A close-up of...

... my huge medal bar (Yes Virginia, sometimes those 10-12 place bars are real), looks like this:

      NIIIICE PIC!

May it be that the crown order has a "50" jubilee number above the cross? He had everything an NCO could get, even the RARE Hohenzollern Inhaberkreuz, so MAYBE that is the reason for the crown order.
Unfortunately I have no Ordensalmnach, so I cannot ID this guy.

      Best regards

      Daniel

Extra points to Daniel! Can't read the disk, but it must indeed be a "50"!

Lucky for me, he autographed the back. I cannot imagine going through the thousands of double columns of Ordens-Almanach listings "searching."

There is actually an Autengruber published volume indexing Weird And Unusual Decorations found in the DtOrdAlm (Werner sent me a xerox copy, which I am grateful for, since the Almanach is like about 40 Army Ranglisten rolled into one volume. Aaaiiieeee!!!) BUT--

in this case NONE of the awards, taken individually, ARE considered "rare and unusual" enough to be so indexed. His entry just lists Crown Order 4, no Jubilee button.

The fact that he was a 68 year old active duty Feldwebel I guess needs a Weird Recipient index!!!!

          never mind the bar...

... that is one impressive moustache. Why he didn't get the PLM just for grooming that is beyond me.....

I remember, eons ago, when my grandfather used to bust my balls about my attempt at growing facial hair. He said that if I packed the inside of my upper lip with chicken#$!@* it'd make the moustache grow out like a *real* man's. Thankfully I never tried it.
          Thanks,

How would he get the crown order?

It is for me the first time to see an active NCO with an ORDER!
Probably he got it for his 50ieth service jubilee. They simply had nothing else to give him.
Normally NCO´s got between 25 and 30 years of service the AEZ, between 30 and 40 the Cross of the AEZ and MAYBE if still in service later the crown to that or even the RARE Hohenzollern Inhaberkreuz. This guy had everything before that 50 jubilee so there was no other choice; ohterwise to get nothing for that jubilee is impossible.

              Best regards

              Daniel
