Iron cross cased WWI NAVY ??

I recently bought a first class world war one iron cross, cased in the box.
It came from an estate with all navy items, because the cross printed on the top lid of the box is in gold rather than silver, the seller told me it must be navy issue...Is this true or fantasy?? The cross is magnetic and marked "KO"..
What do you guys think about this??
    Thanks!

    Hi,

The story imo is BS - nice story though, and one I have not heard before! I will sleep well tonight.

This type of case simply used a gold coloured impressed cross.

Nice and probably earlier WW1 case with the most common type of awarded EK1 - great set

Are you going to show the whole grouping - would love to see it!

    Regards
    Mike

PS: you may want this thread moved to the more relevant "Imperial Militaria Forum" where you'll probably get more response.
    Regards
    Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!
