looking at ricks' ribbon chart has got me rereading my hessenthal. Has anyone noted that the hessen war merit/bravery medals' ribbons faded out to almost white? I have 3 examples on bars and have seen another 2 and in all these cases the ribbons are either silvery white with reddish stripes or barely light blue.
The strangest thing is that I have a 4 piece bar (you saw it at Lowell Rick) with a True Armee cross/Franco-Prussian/KAiser Will. Centenial/hessen kreigsverdeinst (silvered war metal:1918 version) the latter being on a ribbon that's very white with two red stripes-nary a hint of blue anywhere, which makes me wonder. Anybody notice this phenomenon? Perhaps I have the wrong medal on the bar...(although it did come from Major Floyd) hmmmm.
Cheers,
JeMc
