    Large Der Stahlhelm Medallion

I can't find any similar examples in any reference book. It is a heavy deep chocolate finished table medallion given for the 'VI. Frontsoldatentag Magdeburg on
    18. Januar 1925'. Measures 50mm in diameter. Hallmarked to 'AWES MUNZE'. Anyone seen a similar item? The eagle with 'eichenkranz' on the obverse sets off bells but I can't place it...

    Hello Eric,
Just a guess, but I've seen similiar items in Germany in the homes of the old vets. I think these type table medals are for reunions of various units and the city they are all from or where the reunion was held.

In addition to local meets, the Stahlhelm held a yearly national rally, which was as big or bigger than the Nazi Reichsparteitag in the early years. This is a souvenir of the 1925 gathering that brought the organization back to the founding locale of Magdeburg. This might have been available only at the rally or might have been for sale, like a lot of similar items, through their outfitter "Der Stahlhof."

Hey Eric! You're right! that eagle looks just like a Polish air force flying badge!

          Yep!
I believe there were a few other German award pieces (medallions or small pinback badges) that had that same type of motif on them. I just can't place it! They were issued during the same era. I'm stumped.....
