I was at a show in Union, NJ yesterday and saw an obvious bad fake of a German M16 "Turkish variation" without the front visor. The paint didn't seem like the correct color and the rim was obviously cut off and bent over. The bending was sloppy and there were problems with the transition of bending from the original area to "new" area.
I had never held one of these fakes before, but I was wondering why they are suddenly cropping up so much lately? I've seen quite a few on eBay.
I guess I want to ask what a real one would cost and if anyone could post photos of the actual inside of the rim...I don't want to tip off the fakers, but I've only seen one that I ever thought was real and that was more than 20 years ago.
