    Reuss collection kickoff

    I've been interested in Reuss stuff for a while now and two weeks ago I decided to get something as a starters for a new side of my collection. So here she is: A cased silver Reuss merit medall with swords! Enjoy the pics..

            Simple elegance in IMHO...I love that even the simple awards look so regal in their own housing...nicely done!!

              I have my grandfathers cased service medal from prior to WW1, approx. 1910 I believe. He served in Gera, Thuringen where my family came from. BTW, I'm finally going back to visit Gera after 29 years. Posted is a quick photo of a photo of him in his dress uniform. Wish I had that helmet!!!

                      Wow! Thats some family history! How do you know that he was awarded the silver medal before ww1? If that is the case, he must have earned it in the colonial campaigns...
