    Schot U-Boat Badge

The markings on the back of this badge do not match the repro Schot (with the foc instead of fec) marking posted on an earlier thread. The fec looks good and is positioned correctly under the Walter Schot, but the T in Schot is not as lopsided as some I've seen. Is this a post-WWI - 1930's Schot badge, or a repro? http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1005967976&indexURL=0# ebay photohosting

    Doug,

Personally I don't like it. My own, and all the other original Schot's I have seen have had the mis-shaped T and also had the pin set higher up, along the top of the wreath just below the crown. Bargain start price with no reserve is a bit suspect too.

Here are some pics of a genuine Schot badge from Michel.

Thanks Gordon. Notice the badge on eBay is actually a more detailed badge than the original. The eBay badge looks like it's been "aged", much the same as those Frank and Reif fakes we see. Other than that, the pin is near perfect; the Shot embossing is exact, except for the T. If the eBay badge is a fake, someone went to a heck of a lot of trouble.
