NICE photo! Can you tell me what the Major's shoulder strap device is-- it looks like a single number?

I see:

EK2 1914, WW2 KVK2X, probably the Württemberg Friedrich Order X if it is in fact all one single color, next ?Bavarian Military Merit Order with ?Xs (does it have a crown or just swords--washed out), WW1 Hindenburg/Honor CrossX, ?Silesian Eagle, Wehrmacht Long Service, Wehrmacht Long Service, maybe an Order of the Crown of Italy.

Can't be sure on these because the image is soft-focus (DAM those "artsy" photographers!!! ) or the scan is fuzzy.

Fairly late in the war, because he's racked up a KVK1X to go along with his WW1 EK1.

The light-ish dark piping makes me think of something like supply/transport branch... lighter tha artillery red....

I'd say from the Silesian Eagle (if that is what it is) that he's a retread (E) officer, so not on the inter-wars Rank Lists.
