I have had this small piece of WW1 German aircraft kicking around in my collection for about 20yrs now and thought I would post it in the hopes that someone might be able to shed some more light on it.
This piece measures about 4in across and is made of thin plywood. Written on it is the following:
"Piece of Hun plane brought down on VIMY RIDGE by anti-aircraft guns, April 20th 1917". The bottom is a little difficult to read so here goes:
"9th C.S.B. RABA?? J. STARN or STARK BEF".
There appears to be part of a white number or cross in the bottom left corner.
It would be really interesting to know if this piece is researchable with the information provided?? I wonder if there are any records for German aircraft losses on that day??
