    Medal question

    Hi Panzercomander,

Could you be a little more specific - Ernst I (1835-1892), Alfred (1895-1905), Carl Eduard (1905-1914)? With or without attachments? This information would be helpful in narrowing down the value estimate.

    Best wishes,

        Further info.

        Hi panzercomander,

The best information that I can give you at the moment is as follows:

        A. German dealers are currently asking around 90 Euro for a plain silver medal.

        B. When we get to medals with swords and clasps, the price begins to accelerate; and as near as I can determine there are something like thirteen such combinations. For instance a medal with plain swords on the ribbon went for almost 350 Euro at (Thies’) auction in April ‘05.

As a personal aside, I would like to add that in my opinion the case to these medals is one of the most unique and beautiful of Imperial German cases. I hope that this information is helpful.

        Best wishes,
