newcomer question: brass pendant

My father passed on 2/9/06. While going through his personal things, I ran across a brass pendant with a picture of an angel putting a wreath [or something] on the head of a soldier. On the back are the words Furg Dagerland, the Iron Cross with the crown, Wilhelm's initial, the year 1914, and what I assume are "oak leaves" around the bottom. What can you tell me about this pendant? My father served in the USAF as captain, officer of special intelligence during the Korean War, stationed in Greenland and Germany.

If you can provide me with any information or direction, I would so appreciate it. If my protocol is lacking, please advise.
