very nice Baden bar on German ebay

    Hello,

I spotted a very nice and impressive ( 9 awards !!! ) medal bar on German ebay => Iff I had the spare money at this time I would certainly jump on this one ( for several reasons => I think the " Zahringen Loewe " is one of the prettyest Ipmerial awards, the bar has a good mixture of WW I and WWII awards ( long service, flower war ) and the bar is not changed and shows traces of bad storage ( rust on some medals + some ribbons are faded + the awards certainly have a lot of patina )

anyway here is the link :

    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...item=754215220

I would say go for it while you still can and ecrap did not ban this one for nothing

Cordial Greetings + hopefully some member will have a very nice addition in the future

    Here is a picture

    Hello,

Here is a picture of the " Zahringen Loewe " Knights cross 2 nd class => just look at the patina ( or is dirt ? ) on that great award, also very nice and very good cleanable towards a xceptable level is the enamel medallion , as it seems quite dirty => oh man this is just one to love

Oh God, I hope it doesn't look as bad as the scan does!

Poor old bar, to be abused and neglected like that when it was so nice!!!

BTW, since this man was in the army BEFORE 1897 (Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Wilhelm I 1897 medals), but was no higher than an Oberleutnant in WWI when he got the OZL (no sign of oakleves ever there), he must have been an NCO who worked himself up through the ranks as a Feuerwerks or that sort of technical officer.

I don't have the time to search for an ID today.

            Baden bar

            Hello Rick,

Indeed it is almost a crime to neglect such a beauty ( altough much of the beauty is faded right now ) but im pretty sure that when this bar arrives in the right hands it will receive some of its old splendour back .

So please some rich person save this bar and restor the splendour of it

And with all my hidden love messages towards this bar i almost did forgot to place a question towards it => what is the 3 thd award from the right ? ( the very rusty one ? )

The seller lists the 3rd from right in his description as
              7. Gedachtnis Medaille fur Friedrich Franz III {mecklenburg},
              1897.

                    baden bar

                    Hello,

Wherever this bar lands => treath it with care ( and I know you guys will do that if it ends up in your hands ) and show us the result of the gentle cleaning, etc ....

                          Hello,

Was anyone lucky enough to snatch it up ? => my heart is still breaking and I hate myself for not bidding on it.

I just went to look and the PC-police have yanked the auction.

Werner's absolutely right-- I had him already noted from my 1929 Intendanturbeamten Honor Rank List, but had forgotten.

THAT, alas, is what 45 years of bad storage in the Happy Workers' Paradise of Olbrichtland does to a unique bar.

I'll say no more unless one of our members has rescued it.
