The medal in question is the Prussian Military Honor Award 2nd class aka- Militar Ehrenzeichen.
I don't know a heck of a lot about it, other than I wanted it.

A very nice selection, Eric. I also noticed, in particular, the service medal about which David (from the Netherlands) enquired - mainly because the obverse side resembles a Dutch naval service medal. Although it does not belong here, I will attach a picture for comparison sake.

sorry to disappoint you , but I did realise I had to do with a prussian medal here. Although dutch native, I have no reall interest in the dutch awards ! Just wondered what kind of prussian medal this was because I like the thing, that's all

I am very envious of the Friedreich Cross, the Lippe-Detmold Cross, and especially the Lubeck Cross. All very nice.

It's roughly analogous to the EK. Awarded for '64, '66, China, etc. when there was no EK.
