Here's an interesting item. It consists of a solid piece of .800 silver. Could it be a pillow piece, theatrical piece, or shop display? Opinions?

Seems to be a nice piece. It looks to be of medium quality constuction possibly used for patriotic display as you stated in either a shop or museum where close scrutiny wasn't a problem.
It may have been produced during the 1895 period festivities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 1870 Franco-Prussian war and the founding of the Second Reich. Just guessing at this point.
Now for the questions: Is this piece struck or cast?
What are the dimensions and weight? Lastly,
Where is the 800 marking? I was unable to see it in your pics.
