No ribbon for 48 Euros. . . I think not!

I probably wouldn't pay more than 30 Euros for the same medal with ribbon, unless cased.

As to your other question, that one has baffled me for quite some time.

Yes, I'd agree... about $25 on a trifold ribbon.

Why so many? Because all the German veteran had to do was APPLY for one... and he got it for the price of his postage stamp! Not a bad deal! Also, although one would have thought that at least serving alongside Hungarian troops was required, nuh uh. German could have served in France the whole war... but if he applied, he got it.

      What a deal!!!

See the thread in International on different manufacturing/period types of this medal. My 1942 German recipient (who then bought another since the issued one was so crappy by then) NEVER served on the Eastern Front!

        Whoa Boys!

The Hungarian WW1 Commemorative Service Medal was issued in a plain brown envelope, with supporting documents neatly folded within. A German soldier could receive this award, as well as the Bulgarian one and the Austrian one simply by completing an application. nice way to flesh out their medal bars, eh??
        So:
Hungarian WW1 Medal: Plain Brown Envelope
Bulgarian WW1 Medal: Titled Red Cellophane Packet
        Austria: Red Cardboard Box
Germany: Paper packets, titled or not
Could be private-purchased in various sized cardboard boxes bearing the simple 1914-1918 in a Laurel Wreath, or in the Hindenburg "Treue um Treue" cases.

I've just paid 15 euro's for one of these medals, from Detlev.
                      A sensible price, I think.

                      Regards
