Definitely a casting. Look at the thickness of it and the bubbles on the reverse. Looks pretty convincing from the front, doesn't it?

The details on the front looked ok, but it was the iridescence of whatever it was plated with that gave it away to me. I have never seen a real one that had that kind of "patina"

This "bluing" as a result of artificial patina must be the "in" thing among fakers right now. I purchased a reproduction lamp a couple of months ago, and it exhibited this same fake ageing after-effect-looks like the result of an acid bath.Comment
