The pin back is indeed a KO which is an issue Iron Cross made during the war. The markings are below the pin and are hard to see in the picture, but they are there. The second one with the clamshell screwback is made during the 20's-30's and looks like one that was attributed to Deumer in another thread. I hope this helps,

This means the core is not made of iron which does not mean anything is wrong. Some cores are alloy such as brass or zinc. Apparently this was done becase the metal is easier to work with.
