I have an iron cross that hangs from a trapezoidal bar its narrower at the top then the bottom, its rapped by a ribbon overlapping in a upsidedown V shape the ribbon has three equal stripes of black white and red and has a horizontal pin on the back. The cross hangs down from the pin and has piping around the boarder the inside of the cross has a pebbling texture to it.At the top of the cross are crossed oak leaves with acorns in it. At the bottom is 70/71 . Across the center of the cross are the words DEUTSCHERIEGERVEREIN all in capitals with no spacing. I had this cross sence @ 1961, anybody know anything about what it is?

Deutsche Kriegerverein would be German Veterans' Union. The "70/71" indicates the Franco-Prussian War. I believe that the Deutsche Kriegerverein was a US organization in the German immigrant community, so such a cross would be an unofficial veteran's of that organization for a German immigrant sometime after 1871.
