Ribbon identification??

I was told it was a West German Long Service Fire Award...if thats the case that is not good....

Gary,

Looks like it very well could be a Federal German (Career?) Feuerwehr ribbon.

Probably the merit medal in gold because of the gold edges on the ribbon. Here is a pair of photos lifted from eBay showing the two different ribbons. The color is off on the photos -- the ribbon should be red, like yours, and the flames deep orange. The cross differed for each state by replacing the Wappen in the center.

I wasn't even aware of that one until now. I had just assumed that the narrow outer borders were faded blue.

Just to be certain, there's no evidence of fading when you compare the front and back of that ribbon?
