    Bad screw-back??

    Hi Guys,
I was surfing ebay and came across this EK1 sscrewback---
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Eisernes-Kreuz_W...QQcmdZViewItem
    What do you think?
My gut says it's fake. I have never liked that TR style screw disc on a
Imperial EK. Plus to me it looks like a 1 piece. It might be the pictures but I do not see any seams.
My guess is a new fake that has been made to look old.
    Let the opinions begin---

I would agree with you. Not only does the aging look unnatural, these screw-back disks are found on Ebay.de on a regular basis.

Greg, your gut is right. Even if I didnt know this guy sells fakes on a regular basis, the horrific patina is a dead giveaway. He probably kept it in brine.

        Reproduction
Artificial patina. One piece construction. That type of screw used on that reproduction, with a "dot" in the center can be found on many other reproductions. They are all similar in construction, hardware and finish. Those reproductions includes the 1870, 1914 and 1939 crosses with varius markings. There is a pinback version as well of these reproductions.

Stay away. It is pure junk

        Cheers.
