    B.m.v.o.

I have some 1930s SS paperwork from a family member, courtesy NARA. On this application he lists his awards as E.K. II and B.M.V.O. and rank as Unterscharfuhrer. I assume this is some Bayer(n) ? Order? He served with the 9.Bayer Fieldartillery Regiment, and 9.Bayer Infantry Regiment as Leutnant d.R from 1914-1919

    Ok Ive found this page
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&threadid=1656

However I still have some questions. Was it awarded for a single act of bravery or given to units? Is this a common award? I also assume this is what is on his ribbon bar in the 1942 photograph.

If only an Unterscharführer (= Unteroffizier) in WW2, he must have received the MVK 3rd Class with Swords in WW1, which is a copper colored cross given from private up to the old army rank of Sergeant (=WW2 Unterfeldwebel).

Bavarian awards were given, by rank, as equivalents of the Iron Cross. They were always specific and never given to units.

We've got the award figures on classes of the Military merit Crosses in one of the threads in here on them. The MVK3X was the second most common WW1 award after the EK2.

As the post says, he was a Leutnant d.R. in War One. The question becomes why he only got Unterscharführer rank in the SS.

I have a photograph of him in 1942, as a Leutnant in the Luftwaffe! Im trying to figure this situation out as well.
