Does anyone know how old, what type this hat is?
Came complete with hat box, chin strap & water proof cover. And still has the key for the side lock on the hat box!

It is a pre-WW1 Austrian senior officer's tschako. I'll try to give more details when I can get at my references.

Hey Simon,

Looks like the black felt has been removed from the outside (which is a shame)... It appears that all that is on the outside is the white colored cardboard.

Yeah it is a shame, it was sitting in a garden shed in Austria for quite a few decades.
