hi folks , odd one this doesn t seem to fit any catergory, its a soap sized piece of chalk with a really intricate engraving of a german trench scene 10 soldiers 3 manning trench ,7 resting in bottom of trench all in greatcoats and pickelhaube ,tablet is edged with laurel wreath with an iron cross on top and 1914 - 1916 on the bottom . i collect ww2 so does nt fit with me .i don t know how to post pics here but e-mail me and i ll send you some all coments and possible valuations welcome (i ve decided to sell but no idea of worth) real one off item come and have a look many thanks Terry

i guess no ones into ww1 trench art , maybe i should put it on e-bay as whittled by Hitler during the somme battle

Hi Terry, can you post a picture of it? In the past I've seen nicely carved helmets, Iron Crosses and the like, all carved out of the white chalk. They were used as paper weights or desk ornaments. Post a picture and I'm sure there will be some interest.
