Any comments on how this looks? The obverse looks good to me. It exhibits the lack of symetry on the eagle's shoulder's feathers that seems to be the rule.

Her'es the reverse. The hack job on the soldering of the screw post makes me wince. Is there anybody that thinks this part's OK? I see no evidence of a hinge and catch being removed and replaced by the screwback.Thanks,

Interesting! Never saw a screwback before!
Since the soldering on the post does not match the job done on the disk, I'd suspect that it came off at some point, all that stress on the weak post, and was home repaired by the owner...
can't you just hear this snagging in his overcoat, going "pop" as the insufficiently strong center-of-mass post went "plunk!" and it slithered down onto the floor?Comment

I don't recall seeing a screwback of this in my (good grief has it been that long!) 45+ years of collecting. Don't see any signs of the aging and color loss on the insets (a common sign on these because of the proximity of different metals). This is an "if in doubt, don't" piece in my opinion.Comment
