Only a day left and some of these have some enamel missing. What do you think?

    Nice one!

Not for me, but I can appreciate that not only is that a very nice bar, it's interesting as heck with the French & Russian decorations at the end!!

      worth a look

Nice Bar to an Major (plus) , but I am given pause by the lack of the WW1 victory medal. I collect Romanian officers' fotos (mostly via Florinco) and rarely is the victory medal missing from the bar.
Also, the Rumanian ary in WW1 was the equal of the Napoleonic Spanish army. General Order # 33 after Romania stabbed the Central Powers in the back (declared war) was to ban the use of make up and rouge by officers! (It was already forbidden to other ranks).
Now a Bulgarian bar-thats' worth having!
      Cheers,

        Nice bar indeed!

I´m just wondering, why this Officer got the Russian St.George CROSS and not an Order. Maybe he was NCO and bumped up to Officer later.

        Best regards

Great question--which I have no answer for! But one interesting looking medal bar! Mike

Don’t the ribbons on this bar look way to new to anyone else?

OK, so he's a WW1 era major who also happened to serve in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78? Note the Trans-Danube Cross and the Medal for Defense of Freedom. Plus the lack of a Victory Medal and a 1916-17 issue of the St. George to an officer. Too many things seem a little off.

                well...

well if Pagoni tried to snipe it, it must've been o.k., at least for parts anyway.
It is possible for a Major (or even a Captain) in 1917 to have served in 1878-in fact, given the number of senior professional officers in administrative and "militia" positions-not uncommon I think. This medal shows up a lot in my portraits-worn by bewhiskered grey men who look like Confederate Colonels or GAR vets wearing Light opera costumes.
                Cheers,
                JeMc
