            KDM - War Medal

Same ribbon for the 1870/71 version.

Authorized in 1934/35 for WW1 service, also known as Hindenburg Cross. If I'm not mistaken a veteran had to apply for the award, a certificate was issued as well.

This medal replaced all the unofficial and society awards previous.

Thanks. So my grandfather's dad had to go to the next Army barracks to apply for the award, prooving that he had fought in WW 1 and then he got it and put it to the other medals on the medal bar posted in another thread here? Is this assumption logical?

                That sounds logical.
