I have owned numerous 1870 Iron Crosses but this one is very interesting. It is proper 3 piece construction, has a stippled core, and a frame made from nickle silver. It is also rigged for parade/court mount wear.
It measures 43mm wide x 45mm high. Weight is 16.7 grams.
There is no doubt in my mind that it is real, but from what period?
Thoughts would be much appreciated.
