    PLM on Ebay

    Gents
I know there have been many discussions and would like to ask your opinions on this auction:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Very-Old-Pour-le...QQcmdZViewItem

I know the seller, he's a stand up guy and I think describes it as accurately as he can. Even after reading the previous threads and sites mentioned I still don't know enough about the PLM, especialy since I have not had the fortune to handle any...so I ask your indulgence, advice, and opinions more for education than anything else...thanks in advance.

    Anthony,
It is a Rothe & Neffe example. Unfortunately these were being made into the 60's and 70's for the collector market. If you want an extremely high quality display example, these are the best. Supposedly these were also made before WW2, since Rommel's family state he wore one in WW2. The problem is that there is no way to tell one from the other without a provenance of ownership. Many of the old vets bought these to wear to veterans organizations as well. The main thing to check is that the top eagles look up and that the bottom eagles look down for a quality one. Yes some were made that are not that way.
With an unshakable provenance I have no problem with believeing it was vet owned. Without, it is only a display piece. I have seen some of these for sale in Germany for up to 1600 euros. Just use your head. One good point the austrian shaped case does look old, but there is no way to prove it is the original case for this piece.

        New Repro

Sorry, I cannot create a link to this page. If you check out Soldat FHQ on the web you will find that he has a high quality repro pictured. I understand it comes from Europe, but not either Spain or Russia. Anyone know it's orgin? How does it look to the experts?
        Thanks.

The one on Soldat FHQ is the Spanish one.

Just out of curiosity: Did somebody order something there? The items look pretty good.
