    Honor Cross with Swords!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi all,

I bought this from Detlev as you all know. Why nobody bought it I don't know. I am always very late checking his site because of my work schedule so I feel lucky to have gotten this one. One section of the swords were repaired and it may be a different sword hilt, don no!

If you'll take note of the bottom left swords area for the repair. Now, look at the front. Either this part was turn around or is another sword part from a jeweler.

    Corrected!

        Charles,

I saw it right away and it I was almost about to buy it... but then I thought that I will wait for some one without repairs... I know, I might be waiting for the next five or six years before such cross will be on the market again, and maybe it won't be accesible for that price again. On the other hand you can't have them all, life is made of choices.... it sucks. But I am happy for you!

It's very rare... I was going through my reference's books (Nimmergut's Handbücher) at home in Switzerland, which I don't have here in Spain, but I believe that there were less than 100 awarded...

        Ciao,

        Claudio

          Hi Charles,

          really a nice find! Congratulations!
Also the smaller German states had beautiful awards; and the Lippe princes were among the 10 richest German familys, so they could afford that stuff.

          Best regards

          Daniel

            Lippe Detmold

            Hello,

According to what I heard, the family of Lippe Detmold sold all their orders etc. because they were nearly broke, so that's why these orders can be found relatively easy. It is the other Lippe family (Schaumburg Lippe) that is among the richest according to what I heard.

            Greetings,
            Jan

Very interesting about the Lippe royals. Does anyone know whole story?

I do like this decoration. It is very impressive in hand.

I haven't seen any others for sale.

                Hello,

According to my contact on the spot, the royal family of the Fürsten zur Lippe (Lippe-Detmold) sold all of their orders about two years ago because they needed the money. A large part was sold through Huesken to private collectors, a (very) small part ended in the local museum.

The royals of Schaumburg-Lippe are supposed to be of the richest noble families in Germany, but I don't have exact numbers. I will post more if I can find more info on this.

                Greetings,
                Jan
