Siberia is not good enough for that Ba$tard. He should be drawn and quartered or ripped apart by 4 horses. Did you see all of that enamel? OMFG! I don't think you could ever recover from something like this being stolen. I had a display of 12 wound badges etc. lifted from me while displaying at a local show, it took me years to replace all of them (the navals were the hardest). And these are fairly common and relatively inexpensive items.

Hi There,

A quick summary is that a large collection of almost 1500 medals was stolen from the house of a collector who seemed to specialise in German medals, as well as foreign ones including Russian.

Two guys gained access to the house and in the space of a few minutes, cleared out the collection and made their escape in a VW.

Some of the highlights of the collection were a Hohenzollern Knights Cross with swords, and a non-combatant 1870 EK2, and Russian Orders of Lenin and Alex Nevsky.

It's a damn shame and a BIG advert for specialist medla insurance in my opnion. However, given the rarity of some of these awards it will be difficult for the thieves to dispose of them.

Gentlemen,

I would like to reiterate a point which I have raised on another website regarding this matter. Frankly there is not enough really rare Imperial German material in this collection to raise suspicion unless it is dumped on the market all at once. Disposed of over a long period of time, these items would attract little attention.

There are, however, numerous British medals which should be named (on the rim) to recipients. If a list of those recipients could be circulated among the British medal collecting community, I think that this would be the best means of tracing the stolen items.

The theft was made in Fulda, witch is in Hessen and in the pic we have the face of the enemy. He either a suspect or the guy they know that did it.

800 of the awards were german, around 600 from other european states and around 200 spread around the globe.

Daniel, clearly you have never been to siberia.. It's enough, allthough that might change if they don't find the items when they get him.. If so, perhaps a small group collectors could "escort" the guy to an active volcano and toss him in.
